Baroque Works is geared up to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The platform declared this week that the talented performer will appear in the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bon Clay. This character can use their power to morph into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a interpretation of that character re-envisioned as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag artist, in the live-action series, unlike the source material and anime.

The new cast member is joined by multiple new cast members who will portray the group to the screen, such as leader Mr. 0, brought to life by the well-known actor, an emerging star as another operative, and a familiar face, who is also part of the lineup as the ruler of the desert kingdom.

Even though this character is a key figure of the organization, the individual won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden storyline, this signals a major departure in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the role. Besides their recent voice performance in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is set to return for its season two on the tenth of March, 2026.
