From the gradual unveiling of fresh additions ahead of the title's launch, to players developing strong views on the full roster of Mega Evolutions, there's plenty for enthusiasts to anticipate.

With many of the Mega Evolutions boasting unique appearances that emphasize their personalities, one thought naturally: What's the best way to connect this with astrology? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and individual observations.

Aries – Super Camerupt

Honestly, Houndour's evolution was nearly chosen for Aries, as they are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that evoke the most fear. However, a Super Houndoom comes across as always angry, which isn't typical of the Aries vibe, renowned for being playful, light-hearted, and spontaneous. The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Maiden is perfectly encapsulated in Super Victreebel, the Mega with perpetual acid reflux. The zodiac symbol known for being endearingly critical is clearly mirrored across this Pokémon’s whole evolutionary chain, from a perpetually surprised expression like a Virgo when you inform them you lack a 401(k), to its inverted visage that’s similar to the emoji a Virgo posts to the chatroom when everyone says they want to “be spontaneous” instead of creating a plan.

The Scales – Super Audino

Look at this gentle, empathetic creature, who employs the sensors on its ears to tell how others are feeling by their pulse. Consistently empathetic – sometimes to a detriment – and trying to maintain the peace, there are many Scales who would likely benefit from Super Audino's abilities. However, let’s be honest, it would probably just make them stress even more about everyone else.

Scorpio – Super Banette

This Ghost-type is a Pokémon with a surprisingly sad origin: Discarded as a toy, it gained sentient through pure hatred and swore revenge on its previous caretaker. Per the official info, Mega Evolution, “increases its vindictiveness.” That seems exactly like many conversations I’ve had with my scary Scorpion friends. A Scorpio adores karma and retribution, making them the ideal pair with Super Banette.

Sagittarius – Mega Hawlucha

Both Mega Hawlucha and Sagittarians are always putting on a show. Being a Sagittarius personally, the number of occasions I’ve called myself some version of a “silly little entertainer” is countless. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Super Form, its description even mentions how it “flexes to display its strength.” I would do the exact same thing if I had some kind of Super Form, making Super Hawlucha the most fitting Archer match I can think of.

The Goat – Super Absol

Did you know that a Super Absol has the power to predict disasters ahead of time? That gives the identical vibe as a Goat, who often always believe they’re right. Interestingly, similar to a visionary Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the absolute first Mega Evolution that players meet in Legends: Z-A – just like a Capricorn to join the beginning of the Super Form craze.

Aquarius – Super Chandelure
