Seamer Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Worries.
'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.
The pace bowler increased England's injury problems after leaving the ground during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test versus the Australians.
The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his left leg immediately following a delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.
The touring camp reported Atkinson reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "during the day".
The series decider of the tour beginning on 4 January begins on Sunday, 4 January.
The English side has already lost strike bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain on the current trip.
A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.
His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.
He was left out from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.
Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 as a batsman being one of only three English batsmen to reach double figures.
Post a single over late on the first day, he returned for the second day's play and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
Unfortunately, on the final ball of that over, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and promptly felt for his hamstring.
Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match after being left out the Adelaide game.
