Outrage as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear and no one has been arrested have been made, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property managing the implementation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"The report indicates the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a suspect with dreadlocks and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the attack.
Key evidence, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Our information indicates they walked a long distance after the attack, and police have been tracking them to find their destination," remarked an authority figure.

His sister, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she stated.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were ready to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She requested the public to refrain from sharing graphic images from the scene, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's children.

He was also understood to participate in real estate operations and assisted with property reclaimations.

A government minister commented he was angry and saddened by Stock's killing.

In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for said Stock was known for his magnetism, kindness and quick humor, adding that his legacy "will live on".
