The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with employing the total value of seized Russia's assets to bolster the Ukrainian military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and Germany stated that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to come to the table.

They clarified that the move would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

United Kingdom sanctions have blocked more than £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, money sent to Ukraine using Russian assets had only been drawn from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to drive progress toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.

He noted that additional restrictions soon would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This statement comes after European representatives convened in the Danish capital recently to consider utilizing immobilized Russian funds for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, President Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to confiscate or utilize frozen Russian assets, according to media sources.

The total of immobilized Russian funds in the EU is assessed to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government executed widespread missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on recently, resulting in power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the city, and multiple additional areas.

Two people were killed and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the strike, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a post on social media following the strike, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault targeted public and utility structures.

"The necessity is not mere statements but firm measures - from the United States, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in delivering defense mechanisms and applying penalties," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to participate in the Purl program, under which alliance members acquire arms from the America to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While commending the UK's firm backing for Ukraine, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the initiative, as well as apply additional restrictions on Russia.
